I love just about anything with Jimmy Stewart in it. He was just an amazing actor.
I can remember when I was little watching late night Fridays on CBC, a series of musicals starring Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy (at least, I'm pretty sure those were the names). I thought she had to be the most beautiful woman in the world, or at least the most radiant. The films were love stories, though his acting seemed a bit stilted ... her presence just filled the screen in every scene. Apparently, they were very famous for their time. Does anyone remember them?

Okay, I'm going to test everyone's recall. I'll be really impressed if anyone remembers this film. It may have been called "Hand in Hand" (I'm not sure). I saw it many years ago. As I recall, it was about a young boy and girl who got lost in the woods and found an abandoned cabin. The film was basically about religious intolerance because, I think, one child was Catholic and the other Jewish. The families were waging a holy war against each other over the disappearance of these children. All ended well ... the children ended up back safe and sound with their respective families. I remember the last scene being between a priest and a rabbi, discussing how the adults should learn from the children. I don't remember a lot of the details now, but the film affectly me deeply at the time.
Is this familiar to anyone?

Here's what comes to mind
Labyrinth (David Bowie in tight pants...need I say more?)
Singing in the rain (wonderfully whimsical)
Dogma (makes you think outside the square)
Stealing Beauty (helps you believe that decency does exist)
any horrors by Dario Argento
