Thank you so much for your post to me! I'm glad to hear that things
are now going well for you. It's good to see you here. Isn't it wonderful
to be able to talk to all those lovely people who are Michael's fans?
I agree with you about "My Foolish Heart". As I recall, it was in a movie
that I saw on TCM. It's a lovely and romantic song. Oh yes, what you
said about the many, many beautiful songs that Michael could sing
and his making choices really makes sense. It's fascinating to see what
he chooses--and each one is great. We're so lucky to have him to make
those great records, and I hope there'll be many, many more.
Take care now.

How apropo "MY Foolish Heart",would be & here's another old standard "BE CAREFUL IT'S MY HEART"
There must be a gazillion songs the three of us can come up with.
Take care both of you

me that Lena Horne was just wonderful. I used to love to watch her cause of her
expressions. She was just different and so good.
Many more I can go through as well, list is toooo long.
I sure enjoy reading your posts~~oh, and I would never get fed up
with hearing about The Young Victoria~no worries Kate. I really have a respect
for Emily. She's a very good actress, I wish her every success she
sure deserves it. I can see her becoming a huge star she is well
on her way. From what I've read, she's very busy working all the
time. Lots of movies she's got coming along.
Take care and see ya in about a week, going on a little vacation~
Hugs,
Diane

(very factual, age 83 and five foot tall !!!LOL)
I well remember Lena Horne--Stormy Weather, Can't Help Loving that Man of Mine, Along Came Bill--I'm sure she sang that in Showboat -- Jerome Kern was it ???? I think we could definitely take over from David Foster--don't you all???????
Mouse has just called me on Skype so I'll have to close down for the present.
Hope everyone has a good weekend Kate x

Let me give you some background on Lena Horne
1 she was never in "ShowBoat" nor was the song "ALONG CAME BILL" I checked both
2 She was married to Lennie Hayton, he was her 2nd husband & musical mentor & also was white which caused quite an uproar they were married in 1947
& stayed married until his deathe in 1971. Her 1st husband was Sidney Lumet & she had a daughter. I remember allof this as Lennie Hayton was my mother's 3rd cousin.....so I grew up seering Lerna Horne perform
Me I'm 67 & all of 4'8" without 4 " heels
We could certainly take over for David Foster there are some wonderful standards & other songs that MB would have a ball doing ...songs by Cole Porter very tongue in cheek ....perfect for MB's sense of humor
Have a good weekend all of you

That is interesting about Lena being your relative, and you are of course right, she never did appear in the film Showboat, but you know what the song "Bill" did in the 1951 MGM film and Ava Gardner took the part of Julie and sang the song.
I, however, had this very clear vision of Lena as Julie and it bothered me so much that I too "looked it up" guess what, she was Julie in one of my very favourite films (no wonder I remembered her!!)
"Till the clouds roll by" with Robert Walker as Jerome Kern and she sang "Can't help loving dat man" and "Why was I born"
So we're both half right---and haven't we come a long way from Michael and Cry me a River--perhaps we ought to get back on track --what do you think --I personally am enjoying this !!!!
Lets all have a great weekend and meet again next week eh???? Kate x

those of us walking down memory lane ......have you heard the snippet from MB's penned song "HAVEN'T MET YOU YET"?
I want to hear the complete song ,before I really make a decision.
Listen to it & then we 'll discuss it.

Thanks to you and Bobby D., I just listened to the opening of
"Haven't Met You Yet". Guess what, I do think that I'll love it.
I like the fact that it's upbeat and cheerful. And ,of course, it's
good for dancing. I think it's a catchy tune--even just hearing
a small part of it.
Again, thanks for letting us know.
Love,
Jo

''Cry me a river'' i can see Michael doing a great job with. A similar set up to ''Always on my mind'' I'd imagine. We all know that Michael has a rich upper register so I'm sure that he'll let us here some of those great higher notes in his voice during this song ala ''You'll never know'' and songs like that.
I reckon ''Baby, You've got what it takes'' is going to replace ''Crazy little thing called love'' on his next tour. Seems like a great tune to get everyone down the front to dance along with.
I'm only 18 so I really appreciate this musical education I'm being given by all you fine women in this topic
Much obliged

I'm sure we'll come up with more oldies, but here are some that come to my mind "ALWAYS" , "YOU GO TO MY HEAD" there's a beautiful song that Sinatra did a less than ordinary version of , but Nellie Lutcher did a fab version "LET ME LOVE YOU TONIGHT" , "I REMEMBER YOU"
& he needs to re record some from his 1st 3 albums all of which had wondeful standards on them
Are you a kareoke singer?

I'll be sure to check them out Betsy. Hopefully, most of them are available in some capacity on youtube as my investigative skills are fairly limited when it comes to anything beyond google.
Yes, I do enjoy a bit of karaoke and I was considering trying to cut it as a club entertainer etc. about 6 months ago but haven't really pursued that. I had a myspace with some recordings of ''That's all'' and ''Stardust'' on them so i might re-upload them soon.
It's great getting to chat to some fellow buble fans. I love this forum.
