I think what should be discussed is how much Matt looks like Michael Buble! Does anyone else think so? Not as good looking (by far!) but has a lot of his facial features.

There are only a few pictures I've seen where the resemeblence is uncanny. But, mostly in interviews, this Matt character looks nothing like Michael.

have you all seen ADAM LAMBERT? He is one jammin' talent. A voice from the heavens and a lttle of that Elvis vibe. His "Play that Funky Music" last night was nothing short of amazing..He's my pick of "American Idol 2009."

Also, notice how much Matt Giraud looks like our guy. Matt's voice is not spectacular but he has a wonderful stage presence. The 16 year old, red-headed rocker is awesome. A little Janis Joplin, a little Melissa Ethridge and a whole lot of talent. Check out AI for the next couple of weeks. I don't think you'll be disappointed this time around.

There was a thread that talked about the physical similarities of Matt Giraud and Michael. You can see it here

I think my fav is towards- Kris Allen..I think he has great stage presence!!, as well as our look-alike MattG
Danny & Adam- seem to be favorites of many...might be boys finale again!.....
Little young Alison has a great edgy voice...but her style & personality needs some polishing..... last years edgy gal was Amanda O- she had such awesome style and professionalism on stage!!!..was sorry when she left- ....
I think Alison is going to be pretty awesome in a few years......look forward to that:)
hope i can win tickets again this year!!!

ADAM LAMBERT, Allison and Matt Giraud...(maybe because he reminds me of MB)...
I can't think of anyone this season who can match Adam. He reminds me of Elvis sometimes and his vocal range is (hate to overuse this word) AWESOME!!!
Next week there will be two contestants going home. Hate to even guess. Don't want to jinx it....but Adam is still my choice for the AMERICAN IDOL WINNER!!! Just my humble opinion....

Adam is ... well ... a love him or hate him kinda guy. I agree he is immensely talented and has an excellent chance of winning it this year - but I have to agree with this journalist:
I Don't Know How to Love Him.
"That was a hit for Yvonne Ellman, as was 'If I Can't Have You,' Adam Lambert's shrewdly off-kilter choice. He really did upset expectations, by not appearing in full 1970s disco drag and camping up a storm. But after a lovely beginning, the song degenerated into another scream-fest that made me hit the mute button. I know how brilliant his fans think he is, including a frothing Paula, but I'm just not feelin' it dawg. When he goes into screaming meme mode, it's fingernails on the blackboard time."

You all have to watch tonight. It's "RAT PACK NIGHT" meaning lots of Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. covers. I've already got my DVR ready to tape this show..>I'm trying to guess what songs they will all sing, especially Adam and Allison. I would love to see "The Best is Yet to Come, Guess I'll Hang My Tears out to Dry, What's New?, I've Got you under my Skin, Love is a kick in the head, EE OO EE (from "Ocean's 11). The Candy Man, Mr. Bojangles and about 100 others...
Hey, Daryl....where are you on this one???? Come on down...
and thanks, Vegi for your reply. Yes, I still think Adam is 'head and shoulders' above the others talent-wise. He's so professional and I would pay big bucks to see him perform live....
Would love to see Matt Giraud and MB do a duet..It would be like seeing double. Of course, Michael has the voice but Matt has such a good stage persence and I'm liking him more and more each week. Allison is still one of my other favorites. Gokey has a good voice too but I think Adam Lambert has the star quality that draws the crowds...Just listen to the audience scream...even a slow ballad he gets those goose bumps going...Good luck, AI contestants...You're all having the time of your life..."The Best is Yet to Come."

Please tell me who knows this music? Who sings this music? Who can relate to young people through this music? It ain't Rod Stewart, Michael Bolton, Steve Tyrell, nor numerous others I could name.
Look.... I don't need to sit here and defend Michael, he's earned his kudos from way better people than me. I don't feel defensive, nor need to defend his talent in this or any other place. But what I do know is that there is one person taking this music to the young both here and all over the world and it ain't Jamie Fox. I have no Ax to grind with Jamie and his talent. He's amazing, but this was not his "thing". Excuse me American Idol.. you BLEW IT!
OK... on to the performances.... have to say I wasn't really impressed with Kris, although I think he has a wonderful style and vocal ability.... He was knocking off MB in both his dress and his use of the mic
Allison... I must admit, I thought when she chose Someone to Watch Over Me that somebody would have told her to just let it be and sing the song. The song is the thing and if one hears the lyric, you don't have to sing it into the ground to "get there". This is one of my favorite songs and one with such a longing and reaching out. Allison just didn't seem to understand that. It may have much to do with her age. But these songs are about a great melody and a lyric that tells the story. One does not have to over sing the lyric to reach the place they want to go with the song... let the song do that.
I must admit that Matt absolutely shocked me. I thought he was truly amazing with My Funny Valentine. He absolutely understands this music. Haven't heard that song sung quite that way and he truly gave it his own personal touch. As much as I'd like to keep it a ballad forever, the truth of music is that it does change and when it's done just right, it hits your heart and he did just that.
Danny truly blew me away. Although I thought he should have grabbed that "key change" after the bridge, he reached for the hook and found it. He's truly an amazing vocalist and understands this music.
I think Adam was an expected highlight and the most "surprising"? First, let me say that he has more vocal ability than most of us have or will ever hear. But that doesn't mean we make good choices. From the very start of that song, I was put way, way off. His opening was a complete duplication of MB's opening of Feeling Good. I have to say that for me, Feeling Good will always be the most impressive opening to a concert that I have ever seen. There are probably numerous reasons, but it was and IS Michael's. There is no other way I can put it. It is his, an original. Coming down the stairs, lights in the background, etc..... This was a big mistake from a performance standpoint and I think Simon touched on that quite well. There could have been thousands of "great" standards he might have chosen and I can't understand why one would be so obvious and take "away" from their own performance by choosing a song and staging that was so identified with a specific performer. It was a great show and I guess that's what it's all about, entertainment.
I haven't posted anything of substance for a long time. Haven't felt real warm of late. But, tonight I felt "compelled" do sit down and share what I was feeling. Some of it was good and some not so good. That's me, I'm kind of a purist..... that's probably why I so love Michael's relationship with this music. He is one of the "few" that get it. That truly know how to "touch" each song he sings. He has a reverence for them all.
This music is my heart and soul and I guess I am very protective and tonight was very special in many ways.....
Hugs,
D
