I do have a question Allen. We hope to visit Vancouver one day....maybe in a couple of years....and I'd really like to know what months you would recommend as the best for sightseeing. We would like to see some snow...we've never been in snow. We've seen it through a train window in Austria and there was very light snow when we went up a mountain in Scotland but we've never been in proper snow.
We know about the winter Olympics in 2010 but I think it would be too expensive for us to go at that time and also too cold. We would like to go at a time when we could get around and see the countryside without too much difficulty.

Hi Laguna,

Vancouver, compared to other cities in Canada, is a fairly warm city. We do get snow, at least 5 times per season I believe. Last year, it was very cold so that we almost had snow every week starting from the last week of November. But if you are coming this year, it wouldn't be that cold. We had a very hot summer this year and everyone enjoyed it. As for the Olympics, Vancouver Organizing Committee just announced last Friday about the Torch Relay that is going to be held. It is the longest relay in the winter olympic history. And yes the tickets are expensive if you want to see the opening ceremony like me. But regular sports costs about $25-$100 CDN dollars, similar to the price of a concert ticket. I suggest you come during or after the Olympics because right now there are lots of construction going on and it is really buzy. There are renovations everywhere!

Certainlly, it won't be too cold if you come to Vancouver in Feb. If you would like to see snow in early spring, come to the mountain skiing resorts we have here. The largest one that is the closest to Vancouver is Cypress Mountain(also hosting some Olympic events there) and the next largest one that all "Vancouverners" go to is Whistler(also hosting a lot of events)

One thing to keep in mind: hotels and inns might be all full during the olympics but you can always go to ones that are in the rest of the Greater Vancouver Area such as, Richmond(the airport city), Burnaby(Bublé's hometown), New Westminster, Delta, Surrey, North+West Vancouver etc.

And, what about that competition ... how I wish they would do a comp like that for us poor Aussies who live so far away and don't get to see him that much.

Hey Allen, thanks for the photos. I have never been to Vancouver but I have plans to live there for a year some time around mid 2010 or 2011 so I am enjoying seeing snippets of what I will be able to call home for a year. I will be sure to have plenty of questions for you about Vancouver as the trip gets closer and the plans begin to unfold.

Well I have to admit, I miss the mountains in the skyline..... I'm certainly glad I missed the snow in Vanny... I heard the first day of snow Translink buses shut down for the day, is that true?

I think any city views with the recent snowfall would be interesting to see. Is the snow supposed to stick about or will it be gone in a few days?

This would have to be the first time that I've heard of Vancouver having the same winter weather as Ontario. (Here it's been -8ish and lots of snow....they're calling for a bad storm in the next few days just to add to the piles of snow we got the other night.)

I must say that the wether in Vancouver this year is really similar to Ontario...only that we got
a smaller version of it. It is very hot here during summer and it gets real cold in Winter. I lived
in Toronto before...11 years ago and the main reason for me to move to Vancouver is because
of the moderate temperture here. I guess this year's exception is because of the artic low pressure
that came down here. It will contiune to snow....click here for the forcast. There are only 15-20 cm of snow here, so I guess it is nothing compared
to the really cold weather in Ontario.

I like the swing of Michael ... and I like Vancouver... is a nice city,I would want to come in Vancouver for study ..you know the " Vancouver Film School",I would want to study there because accept international students... is perfect for me .
