lol Some sigs are long, some even take up my whole screen!

But it doesn't annoy me, no, it's actually amusing because it reminds me of people's room or house. You know, some people got many clustered things, some got lots to say.

It's our own personal place where we can put what we want, and it's nice to see and learn a bit about the person.

But I guess some people should shrink the image size so it won't take long to load the page, but the long-ness and text of sigs are fine with me.

Well Because Of My Original Signature, Which Contained Writing This Size And A Largeish Picture, I Got TOLD To Change Mine, So It Doesn't Really Seem Like An Opinion.

I've been noticing that sometimes signatures are just TOO long. Sometimes the post is only a couple of words long, and the signature takes up the whole screen. (And I'm using a pretty big screen.) Maybe there sould be a limit of one image and a certain number of characters?

I enjoy seeing all the creativity on thier signature's, it says a little about them......I find this very interesting......

How can you put a limit, on expressing your feelings, thoughts, or to share a special message on your signature.........or sharing images, pictures and all kinds of pretty stuff I see.... I think it's great!

Let's leave this issue up to the MOD - if he feels necessary to set a limit or not- he can just PM the member

i've been saying this for years & it's never happened.
i'm a member of another message board which has very strict signature limits - & signatures of members on those boards are just as expressive & beautiful etc as if they were 13879875 lines long with as many pictures.

these are their signature guidelines:

Banners In Sigs:

One (1) banner, no larger than 400 wide x 180 high. (EXCEPTION: minature points/HPB themed banners are allowed. No bigger than 100x50.)

~ OR ~

Two (2) smaller banners, no larger than 200 wide x 180 high each. Small banners must be displayed side-by-side, with a space in between.

- The combined banner(s) are not to exceed 72,000 pixels in total.

- Using multiple smaller banners to form one large banner is not allowed.

- Animation/blinkies: Only one (1) tiny name block, OR one (1) small animated smilie, OR one (1) small 'blinkie' (no larger than 175 wide x 30 high), is allowed.

- Glitter banners are animated banners. Therefore they’re not allowed to exceed the size of a blinkie (175 wide x 30 high).

- No flip animation gif banners that show movement, such as multiple screencaps of a physical action, are allowed.

- Smilies: Only two (2) unanimated, OR one (1) animated smilie.

- Please refrain from making your banners with the extensions .BMP and .PNG image formats. They can make banners look more crisp and clear but it causes loading problems with people with slow modems and computers.

- Also refrain from using the viewer's personal information in your banner or signature (IP address, information about the operating system, browser etc.). It makes viewers uncomfortable, and we are trying to make a community where people do not feel watched or under surveillance.

Text Lines in Sigs:

Do not exceed 6 lines of text. The only size 1 and/or 2 text is allowed. Signatures with text sizes 3 or larger will be removed. Blank lines (without text) also count as lines.

In addition:

- No java script or flash banners

- No quiz banners

- No marquees

- No links to other boards; links to personal websites are allowed as long as they are discreet and not pornographic in nature.

- No advertisements

- No offensive language

to be fair, a few of those are overlooked on the boards, but not many - & no way would they be as strict as that here because we don't have a moderation/administration team on the boards. but yeah, that's just to illustrate that it CAN work, & it's not taking away your freedom*~ or your rights*~

Thats Abit Strict Isnt It. You Basically Cant Do Anything. Personally I Prefer Freedom With Siggys. I Mean What Harm Is It Doin Anyone? Its Not The End Of The World. I Think This Whole Topic Is Gettin OTT. Its Only A Signature. Jeez!

Wow those rules are real strict. I hope that won't ever happen here.

Yes I agree with Dannii. Big sigs won't cause global warming or release CFC's that will destroy the ozone layer thus melting icebergs.

i wasn't saying "this is what we have to do on the boards" - i was saying that these rules were followed on another board & don't restrict any creativity or expression or anything like that. i was just trying to illustrate that you don't need to have a million lines of text and god knows how many images to "make your point".

I personally love signatures, no matter how big or small.
I like reading everyone's siggy. It's a way to express yourself a little.

The simplest solution if (like me) you prefer a cleaner look to the forum (which makes it much easier to read), is simply to go to:

control panel>board options

and set "Do you wish to view members signatures when reading topics?" to "No".

That's the thing, though. I love seeing peoples' sigs! I agree with bublé babe 89 about the fact that shorter signatures don't necessarily mean less expressive ones.

I would have to disagree with you on that... Since everybody on here is obviously here because they're a Michael Buble fan, I think that signatures should include stuff about the person who's posting in order to help us get to know each other better. I mean, picture after picture after picture of Michael does get a bit repetitive... We all know that he's handsome / attractive. There's no need to prove that. If you really like a picture of Michael, please at least resize it to a good size (not too big but still clear & visible). And, honestly, one picture is enough. No offense to anybody is intended, but there's no need to overdo it.
