I saw on the BB board some people complaining about the experience, and I can't understand why, as I thought it was fantastic. I'd much rather see Michael in such an intimate setting than in the bigger venues anyway, so this was a major plus for me.
I had heard from the board that doors opened at 6PM, but found out that day they opened at 7PM...and even so, I arrived at the venue at 6:15PM so that I could be sure to run into the board members and say hello. I had a hell of a good time working the line and chatting.
Doors opened at 7PM, and everyone was in the venue within a few minutes time. Those that wanted to stand up front did so, and if anyone preferred to stand a bit back from the press of the crowd, they did, and were probably only about 50 feet from the stage at that point. I saw no pushing or shoving, just a bunch of people having fun and enjoying the performance.
It was very organized, the show was terrific and the energy of the crowd was incredible. I was fortunate in that I was on the balcony (only about 15 feet above the crowd,) on the right and had a perfect view of the stage and not very many people up there...it was mostly press, family (of the band members,) friends and management.
I have to agree that if anyone arrived super early, that was their preogrative to do so, but there was no need as the venue capacity is around 1400, and I heard from MB's management that the amount of people expected that night was around 800. There really was no bad place in the house.
From the looks of the faces when the show ended, everyone had a blast...so to me, it was a major success.
